Jim Smith’ background as a tactical firearms instructor span more than three decades. As a well-respected member of the Special Operations Community, Jim has trained and served with the most elite units in the U.S. Military in various theaters around the world.

As part of his lengthy operational background, he has served as a Delta Force assaulter and sniper, an Airborne Ranger, Special Forces Engineer, as well as being an accomplished breacher with years of explosives experience.

A decorated combat veteran, Jim has been awarded the Silver Star, Legion of Merit, Purple Heart and numerous other military awards.
While rescuing crewmembers from his downed Blackhawk in Somalia, Jim was wounded by enemy fire and subsequently granted disabled veteran status.

In 2013 Jim was recognized with the National Defense Industry Associations “Hathcock Award”. Named after U.S. Marine Corp Scout-Sniper Carlos N. Hathcock II, the Hathcock Award is given annually to an individual who has “made significant contributions in the operational employment and tactics of small arms weapons systems.”

Jim Smith is a veteran Delta Force operator with years of real world combat experience. After leaving the military Mr. Smith served as an overseas security contractor. He worked on several large governmental projects to restructure large organizations. Mr. Smith’s vision, leadership, proven past performance and the experience he brings are priceless.

Mr. Smith and his associates restructured the US Air Marshal training program and worked another large US Army program, called the Combat Applications Course, to refocus the Army on how to train their forces.

From his career in U.S. Army Special Operations to the launch of Spartan Tactical, one of the nation’s premier military, law enforcement and civilian training companies, Smith has been actively involved in developing tactics, training programs and doctrine to better prepare American warfighters for combat. Jim was also recognized for his work with Leupold & Stevens, America’s premier optics manufacturer and other American firearm manufactures.
